Déterminants de l’expérience des soins de soutien vécue par des femmes atteintes d’un cancer du sein habitant en milieu rural en Colombie-Britannique
Abstract
Contexte : Pour donner aux femmes atteintes d’un cancer du sein la possibilité de participer à leurs soins, il faut mieux comprendre l’interaction entre les facteurs contextuels et les facteurs de médiation. La présente recherche explore les déterminants de l’expérience des soins de soutien vécue par les femmes atteintes d’un cancer du sein qui habitent les régions rurales de la Colombie-Britannique.
Méthodologie : L’étude utilise un devis quantitatif descriptif transversal. L’enquête, qui comprenait des questions sur les caractéristiques démographiques, la santé, l’aide à la décision et l’expérience des soins de soutien, a été administrée à 100 participantes.
Résultats : Les scores globaux les plus élevés (les plus positifs) étaient associés à une combinaison de différents facteurs, c’est-à-dire l’âge (moins de 40 ans), le niveau de scolarité (premier cycle universitaire) et le temps écoulé depuis le diagnostic (3 à 5 ans). La combinaison linéaire du niveau de scolarité et des problèmes de santé après le traitement produit des scores de traitement médical plus élevés (R2=23 %).
Conclusion : Le besoin croissant de soins de soutien psychosocial et affectif en période de survivance est évident. Les résultats soulignent le potentiel avantageux des outils d’aide à la prise de décisions éclairées pour appuyer les soins de soins, et mettent en lumière le besoin d’améliorer les soins de soutien offerts aux femmes qui luttent contre le cancer du sein.
Recommandation : Les soins de soutien jouent un rôle essentiel dans l’expérience des personnes atteintes de cancer pendant leur passage dans le système de santé. Le fait d’augmenter le nombre de centres offrant des soins de soutien, particulièrement en milieu rural, pourrait améliorer les résultats rapportés par les patients, de même que leur expérience, et accélérer l’accès aux soins.
